Russia comes through hardest winter, and weather, by any standard, is really cold. Across Moscow, locals run from A to B avoiding the huge phallic icicles which collapse now and then from the spouts of drainpipes. At the doors to the metro, babushkas in headscarves hunch against the bitter wind, begging for pennies. And just a few paces away, Russia’s super-rich are proving their impunity to these testing conditions.

Das 39-jährige Supermodel enthüllte kürzlich, dass es von der Mutterschaft träumt und irgendwann plant, in ihrer Karriere einen Gang runter zu schalten – was für Spekulationen sorgte, sie wolle sich zur Ruhe setzen und mit ihrem Freund russischen Milliardär Vladislav Doronin sesshaft werden. Gigantisches Fest in Schladming

“9.000 Arbeitsplätze will der Unicredit-Konzern, in dessen Eigentum die Bank Austria steht, in den kommenden Jahren in abbauen, 570 davon in Östrereich.Obwohl die Bank Austria staatliche Hilfe in der Höhe von 2,7 Mrd. Euro beantragt hat, veranstaltet sie heute ein gigantisches Fest in Schladming. Alleine das Festzelt kostet 350.000 Euro.” Diese Kritik zur gestrigen jährlich stattfindenden Mitarbeiterveranstaltung der UniCredit Group im steirischen Schladming stammt von Ernest Kaltenegger, steirischer KPÖ-Landtagsklubobmann. Die Bank Austria wehrt sich gegen diese Anschuldigungen: Die seit Jahren traditionell stattfindende Veranstaltung für Mitarbeiter aus 22 Ländern, an der sämtliche Mitarbeiterebenen des Unternehmens teilnehmen, stehe in keinem Zusammenhang mit der geplanten Inanspruchnahme von Partizipationskapital der Republik Österreich, heisst es in einer offiziellen Erklärung. As I am quick reader and frequent visitor of Thalia bookshop, I often experience choice problems in front of shelve with non-fiction books in English there. It seems, most prominent motivation and inspirational American authors market their creativity so well, that my buyer capabilities stand in direct proportion to sacred knowledge I can attain from these gurus. Often book bought here, its price extracted from provision sustenance, had diminished or repetitive content and extra quantity of illustrations or empty sheets. Whatever contemporary spiritual teachers write in their books inspiring us to free ourselves of materialistic attitudes and vanity, book industry, representing them and many other authors, demonstrates opposite, non-spiritual and profit-orientated approach.
I felt increasing interest toward Austrian authors and book events that took part in Austria.

Yesterday I was just roaming through two books – novel of Austrian Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek, where it was hard to follow main idea due to odd amount of metaphoric curls and  through non-fiction book of John Leake about Vienna serial killer, when I suddenly got call from my old Graz acquaintance, who in his shopping ramble occurred to be not far away and asked me to meet him for a talk.
In spite of time deficit, I urge myself to be sympathetic toward person, who probably felt himself lonely in big city. (more…)

Jörg Haider (* 26. Jänner 1950 in Oberösterreich; † 11. Oktober 2008 in Kärnten) war ein österreichischer Politiker des so genannten dritten Lagers. Haider war zwischen 1971 und 1975 Bundesobmann des Rings Freiheitlicher Jugend und von 1986 bis 2000 Vorsitzender der Freiheitlichen Partei Österreichs (FPÖ). Im April 2005 spalteten sich unter seiner Federführung zahlreiche Funktionäre von der FPÖ ab und gründeten die Partei Bündnis Zukunft Österreich (BZÖ). Er war von 1989 bis 1991 sowie von 1999 bis zu seinem Tod Landeshauptmann von Kärnten. Sometimes woman may be involved with man, who demonstrates obscure coldness and detachment, and it never occurs to her, that he prefers boys. We love the man, in whose presence we love ourselves.  Photographing young solders during national holiday in Heldenplatz on Sunday, I was thinking why so many women fall for men in military uniform. It is thirst for strength and masculinity. Women can not see much of that in their actual husbands and partners. All society slides in homosexuality. Women become more and more competitive, ruthless, tough, and men, o, these Austrian men! More and more lazy, cowardly, impotent and talkative. But all the same I like these odd creatures with balls. Some of them are really superior to women- from intellectual point of view. They are also often less mercantile than women. And they can be real friends.

This is my melancholic respond to Austrian media election campaign hysteria. Today coming back from my courses, I saw three young drug-users in the secluded carriage of the tube. They unpacked small container with white staff and sniffed it one after the other- two girls and one young man- using smooth glossy cover of election leaflet as plate for happiness powder. As it always was, politicians make politics for themselves – to gain more power and its monetary equivalent; others are mostly passive and skeptical spectators of the show. And now Jörg haider is dead! I feel terrible thinking that I may be invested in bringing his catastrophic end in metaphisical sense, when I exposed this photo! But what is done is done.

Whenever pink morning light transits to yellow of midday, and wind blowing from Schmelz stops bringing meditative tunes of kukus bird, I start my everyday journey. Mirror in my small flat is the gateway. I step behind it and as invisible clot of energy roll outside. Together with gust of wind I move along streets of Vienna and touch cheeks of passers-by with cool breathing of fog. I witness street life, its secrets and its drama.
Sometimes I occur to be that small beggar girl sitting at the corner of main street. She has cheap plastic doll in her pocket she wants very much to play with. For a while, I was also that woman in furs gazing at jewelry in window of fashionable shop. She seemed seized with anticipation to purchase precious thing.
I could be that invalid who crawled on his knees along Mariahilfer strasse and roared -Bitter!- with low hoarse voice. He had only one thought that after reaching the corner of Neubaugasse, he would make a break. (more…)
