Researches show that men feel significantly less guilt than women. From forgetting to post a birthday card to starting an affair, the males are less likely to feel remorse, sorrow, empathy or anger.
It could also shed light on why untrue husbands or boyfriends often refuse to admit they are  wrong, even when all the evidence is stacked against them.
The problem, the study said, is not that women feel too much guilt – but that men feel too little. (more…)

„G’sund und nicht rund“ wollen die Österreicher 2010 sein. Laut aktuellen Umfragen sehen die Österreicher Gesundheit und Partnerschaft als größte Herausforderungen im neuen Jahr an.
Zu Weihnachten lebt fast die Hälfte der Österreicher noch ungesund, aber im neuen Jahr soll vieles anders werden. So lautet das Fazit der aktuellen market-agent-Online-Umfrage des Fonds Gesundes Österreich.
58 Prozent der Veränderungswilligen wollen mehr für ihre Gesundheit tun: Gewichtsabnahme, Rauchstopp und mehr Bewegung wurden am häufigsten genannt. Auch die Achtsamkeit sozialen Beziehungen gegenüber steht hoch im Kurs. Eine „market“-Telefonumfrage im Dezember ergab, dass sich 71 Prozent der Österreicher ein „durchschnittliches“ Jahr 2010 erwarten, für 72 Prozent war 2009 schwieriger als die vergangenen.

Whatever they do, average Europeans talk about prices and life costs, and since I live in Austria, I never met a person, who complaining about personal financial predicaments, would not mention option of playing lotto and wining a million, as if mathematical likelihood of event equated not to its magical probability.
But how about idea that our very arrival in this world is occurrence of immeasurably greater randomness, than chance to win a million in lotto?
If conception took place 5 minutes later, fertilized cell would get other set of qualities and form other personality, not speaking already that conception could fail. But even if miracle of merge succeed, potential mother can make abortion later.
Once in crisp and frosty Moscow winter, working over my journalist projects, I was suddenly abashed by doctor, who during routine check discovered cyst in the right side of my body and suggested surgical intrude. I packed toothbrush and slippers, and found myself in the gynecologic ward of publishing center hospital – with five other women, who waited for their turn in tight schedule of medical abortion machine.

Every housewife knows that the real sign of her adequate housekeeping is sanitary state of kitchen and WC. Smell of toilet can narrate story about  lodgers, as single bone can help paleontologist create picture of dinosaur. Human body is a system of exchange with environment where nor input of nourishment neither output of excretion can be neglected. In general terms, metabolism of living organisms is process of extraction of sun energy from outer space, where all derivatives of this process have equal value.

It is considered to be low to write about excretion and talk about it in society. But feces, as waste products, eliminated from our body, besides bacteria and microorganisms contain particles of our digestive tract, that means they are true product of our biological creative activity. When reading diaries of Salvador Dali, one can see artist paid special attention to his feces and observed them with interest as manifestation of his body creativity. Considering topic of toilets and its sanitary from global point of view, one can keep in mind absence of metaphysical  difference between nutritional inputs and outputs of our body as part of eternal energy circulation. Some time ago in group of Austrian unemployed I participated in anonymous psychological test on personal wishes and dreams. Living on allowance, people dream mainly about money.
If to go to Amazon with idea to find most popular self-improvement books, it will be books how to become rich.
It seems there is no sphere of life free of common monetary passion. But even in the midst of race for more everybody would agree, there is always at least one point of higher importance for us – our health.
Circumstances were so, that recently I came in touch with Austrian health care in the role of patient.
My health self-insurance in Austrian institution GKK was automatically canceled because of mistake one of the clerks in district social office made. After a lot of fuss between Social office and GKK, the first unwillingly produced sheet of yellow paper for temporary free medical help. The simple resolve of problem with insurance filled my heart with euphoria. I thought: “All these years were not in vain, I live in truly advanced social state and even can use free medical help!” Soon it came the chance to try my new yellow paradise ticket. (more…)
