This experimental visual essay explores urban decay, poverty, homelessness, addiction, abandonment and social marginalization through the streets of Graz and Vienna, Austria.
Dilapidated buildings, neglected urban spaces and fragments of marginalized street life are combined with music, documentary photography and experimental visual sequences. The result is neither a conventional documentary nor a traditional short film, but an artistic sketch and philosophical reflection on destruction, chaos and transformation.
Some of the fantasy sequences were created with the help of artificial intelligence, using my own documentary photographs and storylines as their starting point. The AI-generated images are deliberately integrated with real footage, creating a visual tension between documentary reality, imagination and artistic interpretation.
The film asks a simple but unsettling question:
Can decay and destruction also be the beginning of something new?
There is no verbal commentary. The images, sounds and music are intended to speak for themselves.
Filmed in Graz and Vienna, Austria.
