Depression and inflammation

Even brain imaging of people with depression show that their brain scans have increased neuroinflammation. The theory that depression may be viewed as a neuroimmunological disorder can also help explain why efforts to reduce chronic inflammation in the body also improves and helps prevent depression. Inflammation is part of the body’s immune response to such things as infections, wounds, and damage to tissues. Chronic inflammation can contribute to numerous diseases and conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and some cancers.

Gut microbes and brain

Gut microbes are part of the unconscious system regulating behavior. We are fundamentally dependent on a myriad of essential neurochemicals produced by microbes. Recent research has also suggested the gut microbiome may have a role in the development of autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Cancer-prone personality

Extremely low anger scores have been noted in numerous studies of patients with cancer. Such low scores suggest suppression, repression, or restraint of anger. There is evidence to show that suppressed anger can be a precursor to the development of cancer, and also a factor in its progression after diagnosis.
